Reflections, 1982. Acrylic on wood, pebbles, water, 274 x 476 x 72 cm

Opy Zouni was a representative of geometric art in Greece as her paintings and constructions belong to this genre. Also, the main issue that has preoccupied her work is the transition from two dimensions to three, the passage from a closed space to an open one by giving a three-dimensional vision, even chaotic, that sometimes goes beyond the limits of logic. Moreover, the style of her artworks was strict and at the same time abstractly lyrical, revealing a purely personal character that comes out through vivid, imaginary compositions of geometric shapes with a strong presence of light where the landscape of big cities is roughly recorded in a dreamy coexistence with nature. Furthermore, the artist's constructions with mirrors enliven the space, as well as her installations with parallel mirrors create multiple images from overlapping reflections. Finally, through geometric shapes, bold colours and a lyrical mood, she captures light, shadow, motion and perspective, and the immense space seems even more immense, due to the human absence.

"Art is provocative, a constant struggle to overcome your limits"

- Opy Zouni
