The museum of contemporary art in Athens rebuilds its reputation after its close down through its inventive and creative activities on social media.

National Museum of Contemporary Art is a modern building in the center of Athens and the most appropriate place to experience contemporary culture and art as it has a significant number of temporary exhibitions from Greek and foreign artists. It started its operation in 2000 but it is in full function from February 2020 as it was experiencing some operational problems. As the museum reopened in a crucial period with corona virus it utilized the power and recognition of social media (Facebook, Instagram) in order to rebuild its reputation and retain the art lovers close to art.

EMST is very active on social media especially on Instagram as a tool to inform young and old people who love art about it, promote its exhibitions and messages and make its audience interactive by being part of its activities and share their own ideas and creations. EMST has launched on the occasion of corona crisis a number of educational programs which motivate people to be creative and productive by staying home. Initially, it created through Instagram and Facebook pages a program for the little friends of art that is called "creative at home" which encourages them to create their own contemporary art works inspired by various works of different artists that are given on museum's social media platforms every week. This is both an entertaining and educational way for children to come closer to modern art and discover the artists and their artworks that are displayed at the museum.

Also, EMST through the online program "each of us is a work of art" call its audience regardless of age to send their own stories intertwined with the artworks of the EMST collection and the museum share them once a week via its Facebook and Instagram accounts. Moreover, in one more fruitful project that is called "the EMST collection from the museum's staff" each one choose an exhibit accompanied with a phrase that will be its approach and connection with it and describe the artwork through the museum's social media as a way to present again from their perspective the masterpieces of the museum's permanent collection to the audience.

EMST aims to showcase contemporary art through digital platforms and stimulate art lovers to be prolific, visionary and inventive. Finally, through all these online programs it aims to show that the digital world with all these social media platforms can connect people by communicating and collaborating with each other especially in these difficult times that we are going through.
